Jičín – the Capital of Fairy Tales
We would like to invite you to a magical place, to a place where stories and fairy tales still live. Let us take you for a stroll through the dreamy Řáholec Forest where crafty Rumcajs once lived, into the country of Bohemian Paradise...
Paradise? But what about Hell? Is there a Bohemian Hell? Where might that be? But of course, you will find it if you look: you will find it wherever people no longer remember the beautiful princesses, the earthy, clever Honzas, the courangeous princes; where there is no more rooom for the faith of those seeking the Water of Life, for the genorosity of the Youngest Son. You will find it where people have forgotten the friendship of the animal world, where the have lost the ability to understand trees and plants just because they have no “human speech“. So that both Paradise and Hell may keep their rightful place, we are celebrating the Jičín – Capital of Fairy Tales – Festival.
Every year, we make sure that the legacy of the Three Fairy Godmothers is fulfilled:
- To fill Jičín with colour an joy through singing, painting, dancing, to offer a variety of performances presented bydance and theater companies; to enjouy exibitions of toys and children´s books; to set out on an wxpedition through the Enchanted Forest – on foot or on pony.
- To encourage creativity and activity by offering everyone a chance to test their skills and talents; people are invited to get involved instead of just sitting vack, observing, and then clapping at the end.
- To provide a fun meeting place for all people big and little, old and young, abled and disabled, local and from far away; a place where everybody will be greeted with a smile and warm welcome.
